Born in Fife she studied English Literature at Edinburgh University. Jane spent most of her life living overseas in countries as far-flung as Vietnam, Azerbaijan and most recently, Egypt. Retelling history from the point of view of women is where the fun begins.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Girl Who Fled the Picture <\/em>was published in 2023 and <em>The Paintress <\/em>in 2024. <em>The Orchid Hunter\u2019s Daughter <\/em>was&nbsp; published November 2025 and is the first book in the Scottish Library series.&nbsp;<\/p><p>The second book in this series,&nbsp;<strong><em>The Carnegie Girls,<\/em><\/strong> &nbsp;will be published on the 14th. November 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Edinburgh is a great place to be a writer and Jane is very active in the local writing community, helping to run two literary organisations:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/edinburgh.writers.forum\/?igsh=cDl5bmN3ZnZiZG56\">Edinburgh Writers&#8217; Forum<\/a> holds monthly meetings, almost always on the second Tuesday. They meet in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edinburghbookshop.com\/\">The Edinburgh Bookshop<\/a>. If you write you would be very welcome. It is a place to network with other writers and expand your knowledge and skills.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/edwomensficfest?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&amp;igsh=ZmthM3hsZ3Z5bTlq\">Edinburgh Women&#8217;s Fiction Festival<\/a> will hold their fourth annual event on 24<sup>th<\/sup> October 2026.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jane Anderson is an Edinburgh based writer of historical fiction.
